A friendly guesthouse with spacious rooms and suites in a quiet corner of the historical capital of the island of Syros. A charming blend of old and new, offering great comfort, and value!
Lila Guesthouse is one of the most charming places to stay in Syros. Situated in a quiet part of Ermoupolis, a few blocks from the seafront, the mid-19th century building used to be the French consulate of the island. The town is not a typical Cycladic place. Due to the strong historical presence of the Roman Catholic community on the island, it has a bit of an Italian/French feel. So does Lila Guesthouse.
The house is restored in a charming old-meets-contemporary style, following much of its original layout but adding a modern aspect as well. Rooms and suites are on two floors. The rooms are on the ground floor and open directly on to the (quiet) street. They all have wonderfully high ceilings and most have beds on mezzanines, leaving extra sitting space below, and they are furnished in an attractive blend of old and new.
You will sleep in comfortable modern beds, but hang your clothes in well preserved old wardrobes. Large suites are on the first floor — one has a sea view. On the ground floor there’s a homely café/sitting room where we serve our homemade breakfast. The large doors to the car-free street are usually wide open, so that even when you sit inside, you still feel part of the life that slowly goes by.
